Katharina Chapuis

Katharina Chapuis, a native of Zurich, Switzerland now living in Boston, earned her bachelors degree and fifth-year certificate from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University in Boston. Chapuis’ oil on canvas abstract works have been featured in solo and group shows across the country and in Switzerland, including The Lowe Gallery in Atlanta, GA; Alpha Gallery in Boston, MA; Tristan Gallery in Provincetown, MA; and Gallery Trittligasse in Zurich.

“In painting I rely on direct, sensuous perception and intuition,” say Chapuis. “I paint to draw on the compelling interplay between matter and spirit. I let the painting exist as such, let it have its own inner life, its own pulsation and vibration. In this way, the painting becomes a luminous veil – empty and abundant at the same time.”

Chapuis’ work is in the collection of Straumann USA, Andover, MA; Fidelity Investments, Boston, MA; Novartis Institute of Biomedical Research, Cambridge, MA; Sala Restaurant, Atlanta, GA; Beacon Hill Hotel and Bistro, Boston, MA; and the Phoenix Building, Atlanta, GA, among others.
