Pat Snyder

Artist Statement

I think of my art as a quilt.  I layer color, marks, shapes, and sometimes scraps of photographs, paper, and found objects onto the canvas and then look for common threads that practically weave themselves into patterns. Ultimately, it is the kaliedoscopes of lush colors that reveal which of the infinite possibilities of patterns to pursue.

Pat Snyder is a Nashville-based painter that creates abstract paintings with acrylic and mixed media on canvas and paper.

She holds a journalism degree from the University of Kentucky.  Design has been a constant thread throughout her marketing career and has played an important role in the development of her sense of balance, color, and texture in her artistic works.

Pat has studied with various artists including Steve Aimone, Martica Griffin, and Edie Maney, and continues to do so regularly.  Her works reside in private collections alongside artists such as Robert Rauschenberg, Louise Nevelson, and Frank Stella.
