Butler Steltemeier

A native Nashvillian, Butler Steltemeier, a self-taught artist, has been self supporting for the past twenty-five years. At the age of nineteen, winning Best of Show for the State of Alabama , she was awarded the designation of Who's Who among Alabama female artists. After attending Spring Hill college in Mobile , Alabama , she moved to new York to apprentice at the New York Art League. After the apprenticeship, she became a regular award-winning participant in the national outdoor art circuit. It was during this time her intense love of watercolors and passion for animals developed into her magical style.

Steltemeier's work is held by private and corporate collections throughout the country. Most notable are Bell South, American Airlines, Nashville Airport , Tennessee State Museum, Nashville Public Library, former Vice President Al Gore, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Winwood, Whoopi Goldberg, and Rich Boyd. Steltemeier was recently honored by receiving a commission from Reader's Digest to paint and write children's books.  Her studio is located in Leipers Fork, Tennessee.
