Bennett Galleries Nashville proudly presents Destinations Near and Far, a celebration of two Nashville-based artists, Sherrie Russ Levine and Sarah Kaufman, each of whom create landscape paintings of the beauty of Tennessee and the varying landscapes of the wider world.
This free event will feature live music by Randy Perkins, light hors d’oeuvres, and a bar with beer, wine, sodas, and water.
About the artists:
Sherrie Russ Levine is an artist noted for her paintings that capture the play of light and color as it appears in nature and provide a welcome respite from the hectic environment of modern life. Her evocative landscapes are more about the essence of a place rather than its exact location, and she strives to transport you as the viewer right back there with an emotional connection.

Sarah Kaufman’s focus is observing how light bounces and fractures through the architecture of a path through a forest. Her landscape paintings are essentially impressionist interpretations of a place, capturing the light as it reflects off planes and surfaces, illuminating colors and building its structure with shadow. She allows the underlying rhythms of color and form to bubble through the landscape and create a new observation and impression of the world. Sarah paints with oil on canvas. Her paintings start with a walk in the woods and her phone camera, and end with working in the studio with her reference photos displayed on a large screen to mimic the feel of being outside, while she plays with color, light, and geometric forms to create a prismatic view of the landscape.
