Artist Statement

Abstract painter Maggie Troutman was born and raised in western Kentucky. Surrounded by art and artists for as long as she can remember has led her to her love of color.

Having worked with artists and designers for over forty years, she is finally getting back to one of her passions, color in painting abstract art. Inspired by her love of flowers and gardening, she translates from and color into interesting shapes that take over the canvas. The paintings are an ongoing process of additions and subtractions of color and shapes. Finally, everything seems to balance. Her favorite quote by many artists is “it’s just a layer.”

Maggie lives in Nashville, TN. Her education is in art and interior design. She’s worked in the archival framing business for over forty years.
